The Synera® Patch contains a combination of two numbing medications, lidocaine and tetracaine. When the patch is applied to the skin, the medications are absorbed causing a loss of feeling in the area where the patch is applied. The Synera® Patch is typically prescribed by fertility doctors to prevent the pain associated with intramuscular (into the muscle) injections such as Progesterone in Oil.
Common side effects of the Synera® Patch include:
- Skin redness

- Whitish or pale coloring of skin
- Changes in skin color where the patch was applied
